“L’usineis the French word for “The Factory”…the juxtaposition is genius.”

–Dave Phinney

Andy Warhol’s iconic studio, “the factory”, was a gathering place for drag queens, rock stars, and brilliant artists. Inspired by his studio, l’usine translates to “the factory” in French. The name paying tribute to those who desire something against the mold. Dave, honoring his rebel within, created a portfolio for the “Warhol’s” of the world. l'usine is Dave Phinney’s continued passion and journey to master Pinot Noir. Sourced from some of the best vineyards he chooses in any given vintage, these wines express the artistry of the winemaking process. To honor the rebel within, the front labels display art rather than displaying the grape variety or its origin which is typical in this category . The labels speak to the “Warhol's” of the world and reflect the personality of each bottle.

Clearly the darkest of the three wines, the 2018 Annapolis Ridge Vineyard shows a dark garnet core with a neon cardinal rim. Aromatically, the wine offersnotes of clove, cola and sweet black cherry. On the palate, prominent acidity takes over and assistsby throwing wild blueberry, olallieberry and freshly picked tarragonacross the tongue. The finish is framed by an intriguing textureofsoft velvet and dust pairedwith crisp acidity indicative of itsagingpotential.
